Komix Herbal provided red ginger training for communities in drug-prone areas in the context of alternative development with the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (17/7/2024). Located in the Main Potential University Hall, a total of 115 participants were trained in cultivation, processing, and marketing of red ginger.

This activity is a series of launching events for Life Skill Guidance for Vulnerable Areas throughout Indonesia, at JW Marriott, Medan, North Sumatra, in order to increase the capacity of P4GN Activists to be active and anticipatory in developing the potential of their area and forming a productive and economically independent drug-prone area community so that it is clean from narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking.

The training on red ginger cultivation was delivered by Zaini Ahsan Prahendra, Sustainable Development Goals PT Bintang Toedjoe. “In the cultivation of red ginger, in addition to practice, we also facilitate learning media in the form of red ginger seeds, fertilizers, planting media, polybags, and fungicides to be planted in the yard. Plus, red ginger can be developed further, so the processing and marketing of red ginger is also given in this training,” he explained.

The harvest of red ginger can be developed into a variety of processed foods and beverages. Evanie Noer Putri, Public Relations & Community Development Manager of PT Bintang Toedjoe said that red ginger products that have become products and circulated in the market in order to be accepted by consumers need legality.

The legality of product circulation in the market can be done by registering the product with the authorized institution. The marketing of red ginger and the entrepreneurial potential of red ginger were also presented to the participants by Fikry Koja, a practitioner in marketing and sales.

Eva, one of the participants, benefited from the red ginger training. “Planting red ginger I thought was easy, because I had planted it but it didn't grow, it turns out that there are things that must be considered in every process, and the presenters have also explained it clearly, including the marketing,” she said.
